Jonathan Adams

We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the hard work of Jonathan Adams who donates his time and energy to caring for animals. We ask you to share your time and energy with him… Jonathan, who suffers from Cystic Fibrosis, Osteoporosis, and Diabetes, has dedicated his life to his voluntary work with animals at the Mid-Antrim Animal Sanctuary. Not only is he the proud owner of four rescue dogs, but also shoulders the responsibility of over twenty Sanctuary Residents through his devotion to helping the homeless. As the Long-Term Sponsorship Secretary Jonathan writes to sponsors individually with stories, photographs and updates from their beneficiary.

At the present time Jonathan’s condition has left him unable to leave his home. His dependency on oxygen means he can no longer travel outside the perimeter of his oxygen cylinder equipment. As such we, at the Mid-Antrim Animal Sanctuary, are desperately trying to raise funds to purchase a portable oxygen compressor. If you can help in any way please do.

Friends of Jonathan are holding a night of music – acoustic and electronic – with a delicious buffet provided by our friends and sponsors at Clinivet (a local business based in Randalstown who have supported MAAS – residents and projects – with unyielding sincerity) along with outstanding prizes to be won in a fantastic raffle. As the generosity of the management and staff at The Ramble Inn has afforded us the wonderful opportunity to hold this fundraiser, we are confident of a magnificent night, one we trust will bring a miracle. We all take each breath for granted, please help by giving Jonathan this gift.

Jonathan’s personal battle with adversity shows strength of character and spirit that we feel deserves your help as his desire to help the helpless is a shining example for everyone in the local community. Jonathan truly deserves your support, not just because his illness dictates his quality of life but because he is the unsung hero for so many voiceless members of our society.

After months of hard work, training and fund raising for the Belfast Marathon, the Mid-Antrim Animal Sanctuary would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all our runners. They all did a fantastic job so it is with great pleasure we can announce their sterling effort raised in the region of £4335.00!

Our Marathon Runners

Our Runners, group picture (left – right): Jason Parks, Janine Brownlees, Shane Steele, Amanda Watt, Alice Devlin, Darren Sales and Davy Patterson (Not pictured – a wonderful participant: Denise Walker).

Also, without the inspiring dedication of Andrew Ross and his relay team who raised a staggering £570.00 this incredible total could not have been achieved. (Pictures to follow at a later date).

Finally we must make special acknowledgement for an amazing young woman who ran 10K of the Scottish Woman’s’ Marathon, raising a phenomenal £765.00. Valerie McKenna (pictured), for her extraordinary single-handed achievement (and for the support of your aforementioned accomplices); the residents of the Mid-Antrim Animal Sanctuary are the real winners. For that we thank you, on their behalf.

Dear All,

Just a quick note to thank you all for your support at our Chinese Evening held on the 18th of March. I think all those who attended will agree that the food, entertainment and atmosphere were great and contributed to what was a very successful evening.

The night along with the auction and ballot has to date raised just under £1000.

Once again, thank you very much for your support and we will keep you posted on future events!

Kind Regards,

Janet (Sanctuary Events Organiser)
