Volunteer Inductions 2018

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us.

Volunteers play a crucial role in the work of the Sanctuary and we are looking to recruit both general volunteers and dog walking volunteers.

Please note the following procedure:

  • Download the application form from (downloads section).
  • Phone the office on (028) 9446 3993 after 12 noon, 48 hours before your chosen induction date to confirm your place.
  • Turn up on the day with your form – please do not submit your form in advance.

There are 2 types of inductions, one for volunteers who want to help out around the Sanctuary/Shop/Fundraising and one for those specifically wanting to walk some of our dogs.  Please try to attend the most suitable one that you are interested in – you need only attend one of these.  Places are limited to 10 per session.

The induction will take up to 2hrs, please allow for this on the day.  You will then be invited back for a short 1-2-1 induction at a later date and after that, you will be free to volunteer.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOUR TETANUS VACCINATION IS UP TO DATE BEFORE ATTENDING THE INDUCTION.  We consider this vital that you are protected and agreed to continue to be protected against Tetanus while volunteering with us.  If in doubt, please check with your Doctor.

Age Policy:  We cannot accept volunteers under the age of 14.  14 & 15 year olds must have full time supervision (parent/guardian/etc aged over 18 who is inducted) which is to be provided by the Volunteer unless arranged with Management in advance.  Under 18’s must be accompanied to the induction by a parent/guardian, who must be prepared to counter sign this form to demonstrate their consent for you to volunteer with us.  If you are under 18 you are welcome to bring more than one adult with you if you wish, however we cannot accept those aged under 14, even when accompanied by an adult.

About us

Since we opened in April 1996 we have found caring homes for an average of 20 animals each week (over 7000 to date). They come from many sources; some are abandoned, others come to us because their owners have to go into care, some due to marital breakups, moving abroad, and others are unclaimed animals from pounds throughout Northern Ireland.
