Blanket Appeal December 22, 2010
Posted by Jonathan Mitchell in : Appeals , 6 commentsAs you can imagine, the animals at the Sanctuary are feeling the cold just as much as we are. As such, if you have any old blankets or duvets to spare, could you drop them in to us, to make warm beds for the dogs and cats.

Dear Friends,
The Staff, Volunteers and Residents at the Mid-Antrim Animal Sanctuary would like to take this opportunity to wish you ALL a very Happy Christmas and rewarding New Year.
As I’m sure you are all aware, this winter has been extremely harsh, so we want to thank you so much for the kind donations of blankets, duvets and pillows. Without the kindness and generosity of our supporters we just simply could not continue.
Frozen water dishes.
The current bitter situation has left us working flat-out simply to ensure the residents are as comfortable as possible. You can imagine the difficulties faced as the temperatures plummet, and so making your donations all the more relevant. We look forward to the New Year bringing, not only a change in the weather, but a change to the premises themselves. With each dreaded cold snap comes the inevitability of frozen hose pipes, no water in the staff kitchen, solid ice instead of drinking water in each kennel dish (see picture above) and a myriad of frost related hardships.

We long for the day when the residents can rest easy in the comfort of kennels with under-floor heating, when the vision of modern facilities becomes a reality. This, I believe, is not only our Christmas wish, but the dream of our supporters and that of over one hundred and twenty residents.
