Open Day 2009
As the 15th of August was the annual Open Day at the Mid-Antrim Animal Sanctuary it was an early start for all involved in the setting up and cleaning. The usual unpredictable weather saw the dampened and bedraggled workers open the gate at 11am; not only to sunshine, but to a horde of eager supporters ready to stake their claim on one of the many treasures available in the marquee.
The upbeat tunes and witty banter added to the mood and was supplied, as usual, by Willie from T2 mobile disco. Willie lends his services to both Open Day and the Bike Ride-out every year, for FREE! A Huge 'Thank You!' to Willie, and indeed to everyone who gave up their time and energy in order to make the day a rousing success!

The Sanctuary held its 9th Annual rideout on Sunday the 16th of August 2009; marshaled, attended and supported by the members of the Quay Vipers Motorcycle Club. John McCartney (Sanctuary Assistant Manager and club member) had the difficult job of leading a swarm of motorcycles and trikes, one hundred and seventy strong, through the congestion of eager Tall Ship Fans in Carrickfergus. The rain stayed off in order for all appetites to be satisfied with a barbecue back at the Sanctuary premises, attended by Alexandra Ford, our local celebrity supporter. Alexandra was happy to meet, greet and distribute raffle prizes amongst the delighted hordes of bikers (see picture attached). With other high profile events taking place on the same day the Mid-Antrim Animal Sanctuary would like to extend their appreciation to everyone who showed their support, through attendance and donation. The mark of success was in the raising of over £1600.00 in takings for the day itsel, all of which will go directly to the residents in the Sanctuary's care.
